Shaun Whalley previews Town's trip to Anfield.

Shrewsbury Town Football Club next take on Liverpool at Anfield in a fourth-round FA Cup replay fixture.

Town earned the chance to play against The Reds in Liverpool after holding Jurgen Klopp’s men to a 2-2 draw at the Montgomery Waters Meadow in the reverse fixture.

Town midfielder Shaun Whalley is looking forward to the fixture and expects a tough test from the Premier League outfit. He said: “I am very excited, I’ve waited 32 years to play at Anfield and I’m really looking forward to it. It will only be a good game for us if we win.

“I think we definitely deserve the replay and thought we could have won the first game. In the end, I was glad we drew so we could go back to Anfield. We will expect a similar team to the first round.

“We have trained as normal and did all of our match preparation as we normally would do. Everyone is looking forward to it, training was just a normal day. It will be a proud moment walking out at Anfield.

“It will only be enjoyable if we do well and get a result. Hopefully, the fans will suck the ball into the net for us, the Kop will be doing the same for Liverpool. It’s an unbelievable following from the Town fans and I’m sure they’ll have a good night.

“We aren’t looking at the next round, we are fully focused on Liverpool. Unless we do well against Liverpool, we won't be playing Chelsea. I am looking forward to playing at the best stadium in England and the world.

“I’d love to score in front of the away end but hopefully I can score one in front of both ends just to make sure.”
