Brian Caldwell Talks Tickets

Brian Caldwell reacts to Town's sell-out game against Liverpool.

Shrewsbury Town Football Club and Town CEO Brian Caldwell are delighted to confirm our fourth-round Emirates FA Cup fixture with Liverpool is a sell-out.

Town welcome the European and FIFA Club World Champions to the Montgomery Waters Meadow this Sunday following on from Town’s win against Bristol City in the third-round.

Tickets were sold on a loyalty points basis and allowed Town regulars the chance to witness The Shrews take on the current Premier League front-runners.

Brian is pleased the team will be supported by a full house and is looking forward to the occasion. He said: “I am really pleased with the way it has gone. The feedback we’ve had from the supporters is the same.

“I think everybody felt it was a fair system. We have rewarded on a tiered structure after season ticket holders. We have 9000 people who have loyalty points, so we expected a sell-out.

“We could have sold out the stadium three times over. Hopefully, everybody feels the system has been fair. We have had feedback from a number of people saying it was done the right way.

“I am delighted we sold out, I expected us to sell out. There will be people who will obviously be disappointed and didn’t get tickets. “

On the football side, Brian is looking forward to the occasion and hopes Sam Ricketts’ team can make Town proud.

“Every department has been working at full speed,” said Brian. “We are lucky that most of the staff here have experienced big occasions here before. The more you do these kinds of games, the more you get used to it.

“We encourage people to come early to avoid queuing. It’s a slightly different scenario when you have a full house. It’s great that the spotlight is on Shrewsbury and our stadium.

“We know we are massive underdogs for this no matter what team Liverpool put out. They have so much talent throughout their squad. All you need to do is look at their game in the previous round.”
