Josh Laurent reflects on Town's 2-2 Emirates FA Cup draw with Liverpool.
With a Man of the Match performance, Josh Laurent was pivotal in helping Shrewsbury Town hold Liverpool to a 2-2 draw in the Emirates FA Cup fourth-round.
Josh, who won his team a penalty in the second-half, helped Salop pull back onto level terms after Jurgen Klopp’s team notched two first-half goals.
Town’s efforts were rewarded and Sam Ricketts’ team will face the Premier League front-runners at Anfield to decide who will progress into the next round.
Josh was delighted with Town’s comeback and feels his team could have secured the win against the FIFA Club World Champions. He said: “It’s unbelievable,” said Josh. “We always believed, it shows our character.
“We have done this a few times, coming from behind. Even before the game, we believed we could win the match- never mind draw. I think you could see that in the second-half.
“No matter what setback we had, we always believed. We didn’t think our chance had gone, we have great character in that dressing room - we had nothing to lose out there.
“We just thought let's go for it. There isn’t any pressure on us; all the pressure is on Liverpool for them to beat us. We always believed, and that goes for any game.
“Sam just told us to believe and chances will come our way. He was right and Cumdog was there to do what he does. We can’t wait for the replay, it’s something everyone dreams of.”
