Kayne Ramsay joins Town on loan until the end of the season.
Shrewsbury Town Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Kayne Ramsay from Southampton.
The 19-year-old right-back joins the Club on loan for the remainder of the season and is eligible for Town’s Sky Bet League One fixture against Rochdale.
Kayne joined the Saints in 2017 from Chelsea and signed professional terms with the Premier League outfit in September of 2018 - making his debut for the club just three months later against Manchester City.
The defender is pleased to have joined Town and is looking forward to developing with The Shrews. He said: “I am delighted to be here. I just want to progress and develop here over the season.
“Hopefully I can get as many minutes as possible and help Shrewsbury climb up the table. I will be working as hard as I can to cement a place in the team. I will do my best and hopefully I get time on the pitch.
“I hope I can push on from here, it’s another key step in my career – hopefully it’s a good one. The manager has already told me that it will be difficult and I will have to earn my place. I will have to work hard in training, and when I get the chance I will show what I can do. My agent told me that Shrewsbury is good at developing young players.
“I played a game on Tuesday night and then got told about the move after it. Shrewsbury is the team that I wanted to go to out of all the teams I had a chance to join. I will get away from home, be able to concentrate, and as an individual, I will be able to progress my career.”
The defender also provided an insight into what the Shrewsbury Town faithful can expect from the 19-year-old on match day. He said: “I am athletic, like to get up and down the pitch and like to get crosses into the box. I enjoy one-on-one battles and enjoy showcasing what I’ve got.”
