Lenell John-Lewis Departs

16 January 2020

Lenell John-Lewis departs Shrewsbury Town.

Shrewsbury Town can confirm Lenell John-Lewis has left the Club following on from his contract expiration.

Lenell joined the Club in 2017 from Newport County. His three-year stint saw two Wembley finals and a period of captaincy.

Sam Ricketts confirmed the striker’s departure and thanked him for his effort and commitment to Shrewsbury Town.

“Lenell has been brilliant,” said Sam. “Unfortunately, he’s been injured for the majority of the time I’ve been at the Club. The Club, rightly so, wanted to look after him.

“That took the pressure off so he could focus on his recovery and coming back to full-fitness. He was back playing and back fully involved.

“He was great to have around the place, even when he was injured. He was very good with Ryan Sears who suffered a similar injury. He was instrumental in helping him come through that process.

“He’s well-liked by myself, the players and the supporters – that bodes well for him going forward - we wish him well.”

Shrewsbury Town would like to wish Lenell all the best and thank him for his effort and determination whilst at the Club.
