Shaun Whalley gives his thoughts on being voted Player of the Decade.
Shrewsbury Town can confirm Shaun Whalley is the Fan’s Player of the Decade as voted for on the ShrewsHub app.
The forward joined the Club in 2015 from Luton Town and quickly became a fan’s favourite at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.
Shaun was pleased to receive the accolade from the Salop faithful and hopes more is to come from his time with The Shrews
“I am absolutely delighted,” said Shaun. “It’s a brilliant accolade to have and I am glad the fans have appreciated me whilst I’ve been here. I think the fans have appreciated the loyalty that I have shown to stay here. I like to think that giving the fans my 100 percent effort since I’ve been here has won it for me.
“I think my highlight since being here would be when we finished third. We also played against West Ham and I scored against Sheffield Wednesday. There have been a lot of highs since I’ve been here. A few lows too but loads of highs. I have really enjoyed my time here and long may that continue.”
As well as being the Player of the Decade, Shaun has also been voted into the Team of the Decade. Shaun was pleased with the inclusion and acknowledges he has played with a number of quality players since being at the Club.
“I have played with some outstanding players over the years, players who have gone on to play in higher leagues,” said Shaun. “Even the ones who haven’t have been really good players. Like I said, I have enjoyed my time here and I want that to continue.
“There has always been a good set of lads here and I have really enjoyed playing alongside them.”
