Ryan Giles Pre Lincoln City

10 January 2020

Ryan Giles looks ahead to Town's Sky Bet League One tie with Lincoln City.

Shrewsbury Town return to the Montgomery Waters Meadow this weekend as Salop welcome Lincoln City for another Sky Bet League One fixture.

Town will be looking for a return to winning ways against The Imps after an away loss to Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium on Tuesday night.

Town winger Ryan Giles is pleased to have a quick opportunity to secure three points and feels Town will bounce back to earn the win. He said: "We had a good result against Bristol City and then on Tuesday, we simply weren’t good enough. A reaction is needed going into the game at the weekend. We have to group together and make sure we are ready.

“This is football and you have to be ready for Tuesday to Saturday every week. Every player knows that and it’s something we all go through. We have to apply ourselves on and off the pitch.

“There aren’t any excuses. Tuesday night simply wasn’t good enough – it was out of character. In football, there is always an opportunity to put it right. We have to stick together as a team and prove Tuesday was just an off night.”

Ryan is expecting a tough test from the Imps but feels Salop have enough to secure all three points against Michael Appleton's Lincoln. "Lincoln City are a good team,” said Ryan. “They’ve had a few good results recently and got a bit unlucky against Sunderland - they will be ready.

“The league is very tight and every game you go into is going to be tight. We can’t write any opposition off. We just need to apply ourselves right and go into the game knowing that if we are on it, we can beat anyone.

“We will have to do what we have always done. We are very compact as a unit and have always supported each other. Nothing changes. We need to see a reaction and go into the game full-force.

“The fans have been brilliant. When they are signing and driving us on, it gives us all a boost to keep going. We need to give them something and show a reaction. It’s down to us as players to go out there and get a result.

“I am looking forward to it. Every game is an opportunity and hopefully I can express myself and add some goals.”
