Sam Ricketts previews Town's Sky Bet League One fixture with Lincoln City.
Shrewsbury Town return to the Montgomery Waters Meadow this weekend as Salop welcome Lincoln City for another Sky Bet League One fixture.
Town will be looking for a return to winning ways against The Imps after an away loss to Doncaster Rovers.
Sam Ricketts is looking forward to the tie and expects a tough test from last season’s Sky Bet League Two winners.
“Lincoln lost the Cowley brothers which was a big thing for them,” said Sam. “Michael Appleton is there now and has been for a while. Recently they have had some good results.
“Every game in this league is really, really hard – there is no divine right to win any game. We saw the other night, when we aren't where we need to be – we get beat by Doncaster.
“It’s a real tough game, as every game is. We will need to be ready for the game. We don’t read too much into the league table, it’s too early to look into positions. We need to just keep picking up results and see where that takes us.”
Sam admits he is aware of Lincoln’s threats but feels Town will be ready and able to deal with visitors on Saturday afternoon.
“The players are eager to get out there and put a good performance in to try and get the three points,” he said. “We didn’t hit our personal standards last time out.
“We did a few good things in the first half-an-hour or so, but we tend to remember the last parts of the game because they are fresh in your memory.
“Lincoln like to play with wingers and one up top. They are well organised and have some good senior professionals. They are an established side who have done well, especially last year getting promotion.
“They have done well this season, even throughout turbulent times with the Cowley’s going. Michael is there now and is doing a fantastic job – they have picked up some really good results recently. We will look at their threats and see what they are good at.”
