Town Transfer Update

2 January 2020

Sam Ricketts provides a Town transfer update.

Shrewsbury Town can confirm Luke McCormick, Louis Thompson and Ousmane Fané have left the Club.

Speaking to ShrewsWeb, Town manager Sam Ricketts confirmed McCormick and Thompson have both returned to their parent clubs and Fané has left Town by mutual consent.

“We have made the decision for both players individually,” said Ricketts. “They both came in at the start of the season and played half a dozen games.

“Since then, we have had Ollie Norburn and Josh Laurent come back to full fitness. That means they found their game-time limited. With Luke, it’s within everyone’s interest for him to return to Chelsea. He possibly might go back out on loan again.

“Likewise with Louis. He came in just needing game-time really and unfortunately he hasn’t been able to get that here. He has picked up a few little niggles along the way - just as we were getting him up to speed.

“He’s in a position where he wants to play every week which I fully understand. We wish him and Luke well and give them our best wishes for the season to come.”

As well as McCormick and Thompson leaving the club, Ousmane Fané has also left the Montgomery Waters Meadow due to personal reasons.

“Unfortunately, Ousmane is returning home to France for personal reasons. There have been a few issues with his family really,” said Ricketts.

“Some things are more important than football and this will be one of them. We have agreed to let him go back to France to be with family.”

Shrewsbury Town Football Club would like to thank all three for their efforts whilst at the Club and wish them well for the future.
