Sky Bet Play-off semi-final – 13/05/18
In the second leg of Town’s Play-off semi-final, Charlton Athletic was faced with overturning a one-goal deficit at the Montgomery Waters Meadow – thanks to Jon Nolan’s outrageous strike at the Valley.
However, Town managed to put the tie to bed in the 58th minute as Carlton Morris powerfully struck a driven effort into the back of the Addicks net – making the score 2-0 on aggregate. This win sealed Town’s chance to earn promotion into the Sky Bet Championship at Wembley stadium.

Who were the key players?
Carlton Morris joined the Shrews on loan at the beginning of the 2017 season from now Premier League outfit Norwich City. The striker enjoyed a good season with Salop, amassing over 40 games in Blue and Amber.
On the day, Morris was a constant threat against Lee Bowyer's team, and just before the 60-minute mark, the striker's tenacity paid off as his goal earned Town a trip to the capital.
Toto Nsiala was another member of the Town squad recruited at the start of the 2017 season as the defender made the move to Shropshire from Hartlepool United.
A rock at the back, Nsiala was key in helping Town earn two clean sheets against Charlton Athletic, a team that boasted Tarique Fosu, Josh Magennis, and Nicky Ajose as their attacking options. The defender is currently on loan with Bolton Wanderers from Ipswich Town.
