Shrewsbury Town link up with VPG Gaming to launch the inaugural Town eSports team!
Shrewsbury Town Football Club have linked up with eSports gaming leaders Virtual Pro Gaming (VPG) to launch the club's inaugural eSports team.
Salop are joining the pack of Oxford United, Port Vale, Rotherham United, Scunthorpe United, Southend United, Tranmere Rovers, and Queens Park Rangers who all have official representation on VPG.
VPG is home to thousands of teams and over a hundred thousand eager gamers who live, breathe and compete in their favourite games. Players sign in every day and compete for coveted VPG trophies.
New eSports organisations around the world are joining every week, from professional football clubs through to gaming companies; this allows these partners to foster lively online rivalries that can be followed by their fans around the world!
You can get involved! Here's how:
Fans and players will need to have EA Sports FIFA 20 and the console PS4.
Players who want to trial will need to contact @ShrewsEsports on Twitter. When messaging the account for trials we need the following information:
A) your PSN (Playstation Network Gamertag)
B) Position (what position you play on FIFA 11v11).
C) Player Rating on FIFA (Overall Rating).
Trials for the esports team will be the 20th, 21st and 22nd of April at 8:30pm each night.
After the trials you will be informed whether you have got into the team or not. All players will need to register to the VPG website when you have been accepted into the club - www.virtualprogaming.com
The Official Esports team will be entering into the Virtual Pro Gaming (VPG) Leagues, the matches will be played on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Kick off times around 8-9pm BST.
