Sam Ricketts on Town's draw against Swindon Town

14 November 2020

Sam Ricketts reflects on Town's Sky Bet League One draw with Swindon Town.

Shrewsbury Town returned to Sky Bet League One action this weekend – earning a point against Swindon Town.

In an end-to-end fixture, the Shrews scored three goals through Aaron Pierre, Matt Millar, and David Edwards but couldn't hold on to secure the win.

Sam Ricketts was frustrated his team couldn't secure all three points after the Robins scored a 90+3-minute equaliser.

On the result:

“It’s bitterly disappointing to not come away with three points. You could argue that the throw-in that leads to the goal wasn’t theirs and that hurt us. We invited pressure on, which is disappointing.

“We were eager to see the game out and we sunk too deep – we got punished. Everyone wants the three points in the league. It was good to score three goals but disappointing to conceded three. Harry made a good save late on and we were thinking that’s the save that earns us three points. Unfortunately, we couldn’t see the game out and we were left with the draw.”

On Town’s goals:

“All good goals. Aaron Pierre got one from the corner and Matty Millar scored his second of the week. Dave Edwards’ strike was great. We had other chances to get the fourth and the fifth.

“If you do score the next one, you see the game out. Unfortunately, we didn’t and we got a little bit desperate holding on at the end.”
