Sam Ricketts on Town's draw with Burton Albion

3 November 2020

Sam Ricketts reflects on Town's 1-1 draw with Burton Albion.

Shrewsbury Town earned a point at Montgomery Waters Meadow this evening with a last-gasp Salop goal.

Dan Udoh managed to poke home a shot from a goal-mouth scramble to ensure Town were not left empty-handed.

Town's Manager Sam Ricketts gave his thoughts to the media following the tie.

On the result:

"I have to say, it's about time we had a bit of luck. We've had zero luck so far this season and hopefully now that is the turning point.

"The players give everything they've got in every single game. They earned the goal right at the very end - it was the least they deserved. All you can ask for is that the players give everything and they did that again tonight - they pushed until the last minute.

"We had 15 shots again today with seven on target. It took us until the last shot for us to get the goal. The desire was pleasing. The lads never gave in and that is vital. It was never going to be a pretty game today, Burton are similar to us. We are disappointed with the goal we gave away.

"We had nine corners and you just want something to drop and fall our way. It's taken a long time this season for something to go our way."

On the change of formation:

"I just wanted to make us a little bit more solid. We are missing a front three, and maybe four or five starters. Put that back into this team, I would fancy us against anyone. We have to change our style a little bit game-by-game depending on who is available.

"We now have two cup games. Hopefully by the next league game, we will have a couple more bodies back available."
