Sam Ricketts on Town's win over Crewe Alexandra

Sam Ricketts reflects on Town's win over Crewe Alexandra in the Papa John's Trophy.

Shrewsbury Town registered back-to-back wins this evening with a thrilling Papa John’s Trophy fixture win against Crewe Alexandra.

Matt Millar was the first Salop man on the score sheet and Town forward Shilow Tracey helped secure the win with a deserved hat-trick.

Sam Ricketts was pleased with the result and was delighted Town registered four goals during the fixture.

On the result:

“I thought there was a lot of good play tonight. I thought we were excellent going forward. We scored four but we looked like we could have scored more than we did.

“There were some really good individual performances. Shilow Tracey started the game very well and it continued all game. He ended up getting his rewards and he’s got the hat-trick ball.

“It was the performance that I was hoping for and he certainly produced tonight. Going to Macclesfield on loan all the way from London tells you a lot about him. Tonight, we saw what Shilow can do. Him and Ryan Barnett were very, very good. Josh Daniels was good in the first half.

"It was an opportunity for some of the lads to impress and they did that tonight. It was good to get Charlie and Louis on the pitch. Nigel was here again tonight. It’s important to bring them in when we can but they have to earn the right to be here. These are games that give them valuable experience.”
