Sam Ricketts previews Town's clash with Ipswich Town

Sam Ricketts previews Town's Sky Bet League One clash with Ipswich Town.

Shrewsbury Town are on the road this weekend as Sam Ricketts' men take on Ipswich Town in Sky Bet League One.

Town will travel to Portman Road as the Shrews looks to secure all three points against the Tractor Boys.

Town’s Manager is expecting a tough test from Paul Lambert’s men and hopes to see a continuation of goal-scoring form.

On preparations:

“There are bits we need to work on. Being able to have a few extra days of training is really important for that. It means we can work on things and talk about them in more detail.

“Playing three games a week is relentless and you don’t have time to train. This week has been a great opportunity to work on stuff. We have time to tweak and work on a few things and hopefully we can take that into practice. Recovery has also been important so we have been intense in training but for less time.

On the fixture:

“We’ve scored nine goals in the last four games which is very good but we need to start making sure that is enough to win games. We still have a couple of days of training and we will be ready to go.

“Ipswich have one of the strongest squads in the league. If you look through their squad, they are very strong and very experienced. They have good players who could play at the level above.

“We want to challenge ourselves against better teams and better players. They are playing out from the back this year and trying to control games. Paul Lambert has good players and they rotate well.

“They’re at the top end of the table for a reason. They have good players and a good way of playing.”

On squad fitness:

“Everyone is a bit fresher and ready to go which is ideal.”
