Sam Ricketts previews Town's clash with MK Dons

23 November 2020

Sam Ricketts previews Town's Sky Bet League One away clash with MK Dons.

Shrewsbury Town are on the road again tomorrow evening as Sam Ricketts’ men take on MK Dons.

Town will be looking for a return to winning ways against Russell Martin’s team after losing out against Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

Sam Ricketts expects a tough test from the home side and hopes his team can apply a good performance against the Dons.

On the fixture:

“MK Dons will be similar to how they were last year. They are expansive and like to play passing football. They play out from the goalkeeper. They have been successful in some games and not so much in others.

“They’re probably similar to us in that they’ve played well but not got the results they probably deserved. They beat Sunderland away recently, which has helped them up the league table.

“We have to adapt going into any game and try to play to our own strengths. We had a certain style of play at the start of the year but we’ve lost a number of players so we’ve had to evolve into and different style.

“You have to play into your own strengths as much as possible whilst trying to nullify the opposition. You have to look at how to stop them whilst trying to ask them questions going forward.”

Squad news:

“None of the longer-term injured lads are close to a return. We will train today and evaluate three or four others to see if they are able to go again tomorrow.

"We’ve had a few knocks coming out of the last game and a few little injuries so we will have to see during training.”
