Getting to know Charlie Daniels

26 October 2020

Get to know new Town defender Charlie Daniels.

Shrewsbury Town Football Club were delighted to welcome Charlie Daniels to the club earlier this week on a short-term deal.

The defender joined the club having left Bournemouth earlier in the summer transfer window after nearly 10 years with the Cherries.

Charlie is pleased to have joined the club and is looking forward to working with Sam Ricketts and his staff.

On joining the club:

“I am delighted to be here. For the club to put their faith in me and offer me a contract is really pleasing. Unfortunately, we didn’t win at the weekend but we created so many chances.

“The Manager inspired me to come up here. He really wanted to sign me and you want nothing more than that as a player. I am really excited to be playing football again.

“For Shrewsbury to give me a chance of playing again is pleasing – I am relishing the prospect. I have plenty of experience now so hopefully I can pass on little bits of advice

“I’ve played around the same amount of games in this league as I did in the Premier League. I know this league very well and I’m no stranger to it. I am really looking forward to playing again.”

On his hopes and aims:

“First and foremost, we need to start winning games. For me personally, I want to rack up as many assists and goals as possible – that would be a big plus for me. For the club, it’s about winning games and climbing the table.

“My first impressions of the club are really good. The training facility is fantastic and the stadium is great - the pitch is lovely. The style of football attracted me to come here. As I said before, the Manager and the club went out of their way to sign me and everyone wants to be loved."
