Josh Vela reflects on Town's Sky Bet League One loss against Bristol Rovers

Shrewsbury Town were unable to secure another win last evening as the Shrews lost out by one goal to Bristol Rovers.

Despite a dominant performance from Sam Ricketts’ men, Brandon Hanlan’s first-half goal was enough to see Rover take the win.

Town midfielder Josh Vela was disappointed with the result but feels encouraged by Town’s positive chance creation.

On the result:

“This one is a tough one to take to be fair. We didn’t play well on Saturday but got the win. Tonight, I thought we played well but we lost. That’s what football is about sometimes.

“We are obviously gutted to have lost the game. We deserved to win, especially when you look at the chances that we had. We will take it on the chin and go again on Saturday.

“The chances created are encouraging. The front three caused Rovers all sorts of problems last night. Clarke had a goal wrongly disallowed for offside. We’ve had a few other shots go across the goal and hit the post.

“I thought we looked good tonight. If we keep getting those chances, the goals will come and we will pick up points. We just have to keep going.”

On playing left-back:

“We didn’t have a replacement left-back. I’ve played right-back for Bolton before but never on the left. I didn’t mind it. I will play anywhere for the team and put a shift in. I’ll help the team anywhere trying to get the three points.”
