Match preview: Bristol Rovers

20 October 2020

Take a look at Town's pre-match preview for Bristol Rovers.

Having doubled their points total last weekend at A.F.C. Wimbledon, Shrewsbury Town return to Montgomery Waters for a Tuesday night clash with Bristol Rovers in Sky Bet League One. The Gas have had a mixed start to the season with two wins, two draws, and two defeats in Sky Bet League One so far.

They started their league campaign on September 12th with a creditable 1-1 draw against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. A 2-0 defeat at home to Ipswich followed a week later and then a 4-1 away defeat to Doncaster made September a pretty miserable month for the Gas.

October began with a 2-0 home win to Northampton and has seen Rovers unbeaten in Sky Bet League One with a further win at Lincoln City (2-1) and a 1-1 draw at home to Burton on Saturday. This leaves Rovers in 12th position with eight points, a goal difference of +2. Having played one more game than Town.

Summary

Rovers may provide Town with a different challenge to that of the Dons on Saturday. SamRicketts has already mentioned their rather direct approach and a quick look at the goals they've scored suggests a longer passing game and a good ability to exploit corners.
