Salop injury update

1 October 2020

Matija Sarkic and Ryan Sears ruled out for a number of weeks.

Shrewsbury Town Football Club can confirm Ryan Sears and Matija Sarkic will be ruled out of action for a number of weeks with injuries.

Sarkic will spend two to three months on the sideline with a hamstring injury and defender Sears is expected to be out for 10 to 12 weeks.

Town's Manager, Sam Ricketts, is disappointed two members of his team are out for a number of weeks but is looking forward to having the pair back in the fold as soon as possible.

On the injuries:

“Matija picked up a hamstring injury last weekend and he will be out for two to three months. Ryan Sears didn’t break any bones and doesn’t need an operation. He’s still going to be out for the next 10 to 12 weeks.

“Disappointing but good news that Sears doesn’t need an operation. Hopefully we can have them back as soon as possible.

“This is one of those things that gets thrown at you in football. You can’t do anything about it. It causes a few headaches and a few things to sort out. Ultimately, the big disappointment is for the players.

“Matty has just come in and hit the ground running. Sears fought back and was in the best shape I’ve seen him in since I’ve been here. He will be back. He’s a good lad with a good attitude.”
