Sam Ricketts on Town's loss against Peterborough United

Sam Ricketts reacts to Town's 5-1 loss against Peterborough United.

Shrewsbury Town’s evening in Peterborough came to a disappointing end with Town losing out 5-1.

Despite the Shrews netting in the first-half, a red card for Josh Vela swung the game into the home side’s favour as Siriki Dembele netted a hat-trick.

Town’s Manager, Sam Ricketts was disappointed with the result and felt individual errors contributed to the poor result.

On the result:

“Individual errors cost us the game. We can’t hide behind anything else. We were in the game earlier on and could have scored two goals.   We were then fighting the game with 10-men. Once they got that third goal, it gave them the confidence to get more.

“I can’t keep saying we have played well when we aren't scoring or winning. For all the good, you can’t legislate for errors that cost you goals. We can’t keep giving teams cheap goals.

“Between boxes we are good but in both boxes, we aren’t good enough. There were a couple of chances we should have put away. It’s not good enough and you can’t win games like that.

“The number of errors is cause for concern at the minute. We all have to look at individual performances. Not just the players, myself included. We need to identify why we are in this run of results.”
