Sam Ricketts reflects on Town's loss on the road

Sam Ricketts reflects on Town's 1-0 away loss against Fleetwood Town.

Shrewsbury Town were unable to secure three points on the road after a disappointing evening in Fleetwood.

Joey Barton’s men notched in the first-half through Ched Evans and saw that lead out until the final whistle to secure the win.

Town’s Manager, Sam Ricketts, was disappointed with the result and felt his team deserved a point from the tie.

On the result:

“It was a game of two very different halves. The wind made it a really tricky game today. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a footballing game as such. Ched’s finish was great on his left foot. It was a half-chance really and he managed to tuck it away. There were things we could have done better, definitely. In the second-half, we ended up pinning them in and pushing their defence right until the end.

“We pressed and kept on trying. We had shots blocked, shots go wide and Dan hit the post. It didn’t fall for us and didn’t go our way tonightht. In the first-half, they were on top. In the second, we were on top.

“We deserved a point from the game. They broke on us once or twice but that happens when you are pushing forward. The game was open towards the end. On another day, our blocked shots go in.”
