Josh Vela previews Plymouth

Josh Vela previews Town's Sky Bet League One clash with Plymouth Argyle.

Shrewsbury Town travel to Home Park this weekend for Town's latest Sky Bet League One fixture against Plymouth Argyle.

Town will be looking to make it consecutive wins this weekend following on from Salop victory in the EFL Trophy.

Town midfielder Josh Vela is looking forward to the tie and hopes his team can begin to build momentum - starting against the Pilgrims.

On using the momentum from the Newcastle win:

“We want to carry over the momentum from a good performance of Tuesday night. We will be looking to take that down to Plymouth and hopefully get the three points.

“It would be big for the mentality of the team to get back-to-back wins after the disappointing result against Northampton on Saturday - a game which we definitely shouldn’t have lost. It was important that we got the win on Tuesday and now, hopefully we can go to Plymouth on Saturday and come back with the three points.”

On personal preparation after a long trip:

“Not much changes really. I aim to rest up on the coach and when we get to the hotel I think we’ll have a pool session. Not much changes for me really, it’s obviously a long trip but that’s just one of the parts of football.

“I know they play 3-5-2 and probably play a decent brand of football but with our pressing play that we’ve started to influence into our game, that will suit us and we will look to take the game to them.

“I think we have to press them high and play out from the back. We need to make sure we are nicking the balls off them. We need to just go down there with our attitude from Tuesday night and take that into the game. You can look at them and how they play but it’s not about them, it’s on us to go down there and implement our game on them.”

On his personal fitness and pre-season:

“It’s the fittest I’ve felt in a long time. Pre-season was tough and I feel fit and sharp and ready to go on Saturday.”
