Aaron Wilbraham previews Town's fixture with Gillingham

8 April 2021

Aaron Wilbraham previews Town's Sky Bet League One away fixture with Gillingham.

Steve Cotterill's men next make the 200-mile road trip to take on Gillingham at Priestfield Stadium in Sky Bet League One competition.

Salop will be looking to make it back-to-back wins with the venture to Kent after notching three goals past Plymouth Argyle in the last fixture.

Town Assistant Manager Aaron Wilbraham admits the mood around Sundorne is positive as Town look to have a strong end to the season.

Update on the Gaffer:

"He is good. We have been speaking to him a lot over the last couple of weeks and you can tell that he's in a much more positive place - he's getting stronger every single day. He still has to be mindful of how poorly he was.

"He had a follow-up appointment the other day and they are starting to wean him off some medication. Things are all heading in the right direction. His voice has always remained strong but he sounds in a much more positive place.

"He managed to do a yoga class, which was strength and conditioning. He's happy because he's a real active guy and always in the gym. Knowing the type of man he is, he'll want to get back to even better shape than he already was in."

On the fixture:

"The lads have had a couple of days rest and they have worked well today. Everyone is in good spirits and very focused in preparation for the next game. The lads always have a great attitude and they take that into every game.

"We know Gillingham are a strong and physical team. They have been doing well of late and have picked up some good results. They are a dangerous team and we will have to be on our guard going into the game on Saturday.

"We always come up against good players in this league and we always do our homework on the opposition. We have made the boys aware of their threats going into Saturday's game. Come the end of the week, they'll have even more detail going into the fixture.

"Steve Evans is really experienced and has done well at the other clubs he's been at. He'll have his lads fired up and we will have to be ready for that."
