Town fall to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Northampton Town.

Town's afternoon away from home at the Sixfields Stadium came to an end with Salop falling to a 1-0 defeat.

Ryan Watson's 8th goal of the season in the first-half was the difference between the two sides as the Cobblers claimed all three points.

In a first-half limited with few chances, Matija Sarkic was the first keeper called into action. A deep cross found its way to the back post and Sam Hoskins did well to slide in for a shot on goal. Town's shot-stopper had work to do and stretched across goal to make an impressive diving save for his team.

However, the home side didn't let the next chance pass by. Peter Kioso whipped in a powerful cross from the right wing and Ryan Watson was on hand to smash a first-time effort into the corner of the Salop net - earning the lead in the 27th minute.

As the second period began, Town were pushing to find a leveler and nearly did through Donald Love. In the 54th minute, Curtis Main slotted a through ball to Town's right-back but the defender couldn't get his shot off quick enough as the Cobblers man got across well to put in a block.

Despite a tightly contested battle between the two sides, it was the home side who eventually saw the game out to earn all three points.
