Matthew Pennington reflects on Town's Sky Bet League One defeat at the hands of Doncaster Rovers.
Shrewsbury Town welcomed Doncaster Rovers to Montgomery Waters Meadow this weekend for Town's latest Sky Bet League One fixture.
Despite creating a plethora of chances in the fixture, it was the away side who capitalised and took a two-goal win home.
Town defender Matthew Pennington was ultimately left frustrated with the result and felt the Salop performance fell well below the usual high standards.
On the result:
“Disappointing day overall. We did well in the first-half, but with the run of form they are on, the last thing we needed to do was gift them a couple of goals and give them any confidence. We can’t afford to waste opportunities like we have done yesterday and in the last game. We hope to put that right in the next one."
“We did well first-half we passed the ball well, we didn’t keep that going in the second half, unfortunately.
“As a defender, the last thing you want to do is conceded goals, and as a team, we have shipped too many goals in the last couple of games so we will be looking to put that right next time out."
On his hopes for the remaining six games:
“Firstly, we want a reaction in the next game after losing the last couple. We want to get as many points as we can to move up the table and get to a place where we feel our performances deserve."
“Wigan are fighting for their lives and they won again on Saturday so they will give us a tough test so we will have to be bang up for it."
On his time at Shrewsbury so far:
“It’s been good overall. I have enjoyed playing here, I enjoy the group of lads and the staff so that’s been a real positive - I have enjoyed my time so far."
