Ollie Norburn reflects on Town's loss against Northampton Town

3 April 2021

Ollie Norburn reflects on Town's narrow Sky Bet League One loss against Northampton Town.

Town's afternoon away from home at Sixfields Stadium came to an end with Salop falling to a 1-0 defeat.

Ryan Watson's 8th goal of the season was the difference between the two sides as the Cobblers claimed all three points over Town.

Town captain Ollie Norburn was disappointed with the result and feels Town didn't reach their usual levels of performance

On defeat:

“It's not the result we wanted. I don’t think the team performance or my performance was anywhere near the usual levels we set ourselves if we are honest.

“We have had two defeats on the spin now and that hasn’t happened since the Gaffer has been in -  we are disappointed. I think it's a good thing though that everyone is hurting, we just weren’t near what we are capable of."

“I think second-half, a lot of the play was camped in their half but we didn’t do enough with it and we were a bit sloppy at times. It wouldn’t say it’s down to a lack of effort, it’s an honest bunch in the dressing room so I’m not questioning that."

On his return from suspension:

“I was happy to go back into the team but not happy with my performance. There is a game again in two days and we will analyse and debrief before we go again to put it right.

“We will be in over the weekend and we will look at Plymouth and our performance. We will have to be much better than it was today and I think it will be."
