Shaun Whalley reflects on Town's loss against Lincoln City

Shaun Whalley reflects on Town's home Sky Bet League One loss against Lincoln City.

Shrewsbury Town's Sky Bet League One evening fixture with Lincoln City ended with the Imps securing all three points at Montgomery Waters Meadow.

With a first-half goal from Jorge Grant, Michael Appleton's side held on to secure the win despite Town pushing the away side until the very last second.

Town winger Shaun Whalley was disappointed with the result and felt Town had solid chances to earn a result against the Imps.

On the result:

"We didn't start well but we really grew into the game. I thought we were the better side for large parts of the game and we had a couple of chances.

"Fair play to Lincoln, we pretty much did the same thing to them at their place and got the 1-0. We set up similar to last Saturday and the last thing we needed was to concede early.

"The Manager changed things around and we really grew into the game. I think we definitely deserved a point in the end. They were on top, the Gaffer made the change and it nearly worked.

"Josh Vela is disappointed but he did brilliantly to get in with his running. He's disappointed but it's just one of those things. He got in the right position. Lincoln are a good side and we were just unfortunate. We went toe-to-toe with them for large parts of the game and I felt we deserved something."
