Shaun Whalley reflects on Town's win over Plymouth Argyle

Shaun Whalley reflects on Town's Sky Bet League One 3-0 win over Plymouth Argyle.

Shrewsbury Town's return to Montgomery Waters Meadow coincided with a return to winning ways over visiting Plymouth Argyle.

Three goals and a clean sheet from Salop were the difference between the two sides as all three points remained in Shropshire after an impressive performance from Steve Cotterill's men.

Town forward Shaun Whalley was thrilled to have netted a brace for his team and was delighted to have helped Salop return to winning ways.

On the result:

“It was a great team performance. First-half we were the better team and I had couple of chances that I didn’t take. I thought we were fantastic in the second. We were by far the better team and we fully deserved the win. I was delighted we kept a clean sheet. Matija made a great save at one-nil and the lads defended brilliantly again."

On the three goals:

“Dan is good to play with upfront because he works very hard and he does all the horrible stuff. That helped me get the goals today but I’m sure he will get on the scoresheet soon enough.

“The second goal was just a case of me walking back into position and then I saw that he had miss placed a pass. I ran onto it and there was a gap that I could see as the keeper came out. I just slotted it in and I was just happier that we went two-nil up at that point.

“Nat stole the show with his great goal and his summersault was even more impressive. He has done so well since he has signed and it was a great moment. The goal was great but the celebration was even better."

On coming back into the team:

“The Manager has just been rotating and he is well within his rights to do so, and today I felt good and fresh so it probably worked.

“We have a good dressing room full of good players and it’s the Manager's decision who he picks and you just have to take your chance when it comes."
