A thank you from Ryan Jervis

3 August 2021

Ryan Jervis sends a thank you message following on from his EFL 40 Years of Service award.

I am overwhelmed with the delightful and very kind responses to my EFL 40-year recognition award.

Two people have shared the PA box with me over the years. Firstly, the late Mark Walton who became deputy head at Belvidere School and who asked me to 'give him a hand' in 1978. When Mark left to teach abroad, another teacher Frank O’Brien, the most reliable, cool-headed, and supportive friend I could have, joined me.

Frank never knew just how much he, together with the stability and continuity of my role at Shrewsbury Town helped me through a mental health wobble when I took on a new job because nobody acknowledged such things back in the 1990s. And when either of us is unavailable, huge gratitude to Mark my son, Dom who is Frank’s son together with Will and Sam who fill in seamlessly.

Thank you, Shrewsbury Town Football Club, and to everyone who shares a passion for it.
