Aaron Wilbraham previews Town's fixture with Rochdale AFC

23 August 2021

Aaron Wilbraham previews Town's Round Two Carabao Cup home fixture with Rochdale AFC.

Shrewsbury Town's next fixture sees Rochdale AFC visit Shropshire for Round Two of the Carabao Cup following Town's progression past Lincoln City in the previous round.

Town will welcome the Sky Bet League Two outfit to Montgomery Waters Meadow with a view to booking their spot in Round Three of the competition.

Salop Assistant Manager Aaron Wilbraham expects a stern test from his former and last club but hopes to see Town secure their progression.

On the fixture:

"I know Rochdale didn't get off to the start they would have wanted but they had a good win against Northampton at the weekend - they will be feeling confident after that. They had a good cup run when I was there and they managed to get Manchester United in the third round.

"They will definitely be looking to progress in the competition as are we. This is a good game for us and it's one we need to be ready for. They will be full of confidence. We can't take them lightly. The lads might have had the thought of the Round Three draw in the back of their minds but we will be concentrating on tomorrow night.

There will be a few people I know coming down. There's been a few ins and outs since I was there but I am looking forward to seeing everyone. I've dealt with these situations before when playing and on the coaching side of things. You just have to get on with it and focus on getting through."

On the squad:

"The lads are disappointed with the result on Saturday but they are all looking to put that right starting tomorrow night. Everyone came through the game ok."
