Sam Cosgrove makes the move to Montgomery Waters Meadow from Sky Bet Championship outfit Birmingham City.
Shrewsbury Town Football Club is delighted to welcome Sam Cosgrove to the Salopian family as the forward joins the Shrews on a season-long loan from Birmingham City.
An experienced forward despite only being 24-years-old, the 6 ft 4 frontman has played well over 100 games having represented a number of teams in various divisions - including a successful spell with Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.
Sam found the net 47 times in 103 appearances for The Dons and in December 2018 was named Scottish Premiership player of the month. In the campaign that followed, Cosgrove found the net 23 times, including on six occasions during Aberdeen’s run to the Europa League third qualifying round.
Town's Manager Steve Cotterill is delighted to have Sam on board and is looking forward to working with the forward over the course of the season.
"We've wanted another forward for a while now and that has been well documented," said Town's Manager. "We've had to be patient to get sam over the line but we are pleased we've got him. He comes out of Birmingham with probably something to prove because he hasn't quite hit the ground running there as he would have liked.
"We are looking to get him back to the form he was in at Aberdeen. He was up there playing regular football and scoring goals. I had a great chat with him today and he's a smart young man. Let's just hope he's as clever when he pulls the Shrewsbury Town shirt on.
"We just want him to score as many goals as possible along with the other boys as well. We've brought him into a group where everyone is together. We have a real togetherness this year and he will be welcomed into the dressing room by everyone. He will add healthy competition to our squad in those forward positions."
