Town appoint Interim Academy Manager

8 February 2021

Shrewsbury Town appoint Max Rogers as Interim Academy Manager.

Shrewsbury Town Football Club is delighted to confirm Max Rogers has joined the Salop Academy as Interim Manager.

Following David Longwell's extensive time with the Shrews first team, Max has been brought in to oversee Town's under 18's and 16 groups.

David Longwell confirmed the news and gave an insight into the former Orlando City under-16's coach.

On the appointment:

"Max worked for me at St. Mirren when I was the Academy Manager. He came in and assisted with the coaching but he was that good, so I brought him in full-time. I then made him my Assistant Academy Manager - even though he was still in his 20's.

"He is so good at managing academies and he's so switched on. At the time, we brought through lots of players at St. Mirren and then I went to Orlando. I took him with me and he took charge of the under-17's. He supported me with all the methodology stuff we did there.

"He then moved to St. Louis to work with Tony Pulis's son and was an Assistant Coach for the first team. His contract there ended in December and I wanted to bring someone into the Academy whilst I am working with the first team."

Welcome to the Club, Max!
