Get to know new Town defender Matthew Pennington in his first Salop interview.
Shrewsbury Town were delighted to welcome Matthew Pennington to the Club as the defender made the move to Shropshire on loan until the end of the season.
The 26-year-old makes the move from Premier League side Everton in search of first team football at Montgomery Waters Meadow after successful loan spells in the Sky Bet Championship.
Matthew is pleased to have joined the Club and is looking forward to spending the second half of the season in Shropshire.
On joining Salop:
"I am really pleased to be here and I am happy it all got done quickly - I'm looking forward to getting started now. I have really missed playing in the last few months so this is a great chance for me to play some more minutes.
"I want to enjoy playing football and hopefully I can contribute to the team. When you don't play, you really miss doing what you love so I am looking forward to playing football.
"I know the form has been really good since the Manager came in. I'm looking to being a part of something and a part of something positive. As a defender, clean sheets are massive - I'm looking forward to being a part of that.
"I haven't set any targets yet, I just want to get into the team. The boys are doing well so I want to get into the team and push on from there. I am a committed defender. I like to get on the ball and play but first and foremost I am a defender.
"I will come here and do my best and give my all to Shrewsbury. Hopefully we can get some positives results."
