Town's Emirates FA Cup fixture with Southampton re-scheduled for January 19th.
Shrewsbury Town Football Club is pleased to confirm our Emirates FA Cup third round fixture with Southampton has been re-scheduled following a decision by The FA’s Professional Game Board.
Salop will take on the Saints at St. Mary's on Tuesday 19th January 2021 as the Shrews look to upset the odds against another Premier League side in the competition. The tie will be shown live on BT Sport at 8:00 pm.
Chief Executive, Brian Caldwell said: “We would like to thank the FA, Premier League and Southampton Football Club for their cooperation and willingness to re-schedule the fixture.
"It did seem unfair that there was a possibility that we may have to forfeit the original tie when the circumstances around the postponement were outside of our control. We are therefore delighted that the FA have done all they can, in conjunction with the Premier League and Southampton, to give us the chance for the fixture to be played."
The winners of the tie at St Mary’s will take on Arsenal at home. In the following round, the winner will then face an away tie with Chorley or Wolverhampton Wanderers.
