Key information for Salop supporters returning to Montgomery Waters Meadow.
Following the announcement by Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions from July 19th and a Safety Advisory Group meeting today (Wednesday) attended by club officials and supporter liaison officers Mike Davis and Roger Groves, everyone at the Club is delighted to be able to look forward to welcoming all our supporters back to Montgomery Waters Meadow for the opening game of the 2021/22 season on Saturday, August 7th at 3pm subject to any further Government announcements.
We realise there will be lots of enquiries over the next days and weeks as to how that will look but we will strive to publish more detailed information as we finalise our plans.
Whilst we welcome the news we also realise that for some supporters there will be some anxiety as life in general and attendance at events returns to normal.
We will do everything we can to allay those fears and assist everyone that wants to return to games to do so safely.
For example, as part of our ticketing strategy we are looking at options for an area of socially distanced seating where supporters can purchase a socially distanced seat or season ticket holders could move their seats to and, how we manage entry into and exit from the stadium to assist those supporters (and staff) who might want to exercise some form of social distancing for personal reasons.
We will also be recommending that face coverings are worn by staff and supporters, especially in concourse and other enclosed areas and will encourage all our supporters to follow the recommendation and respect the choice of others in wearing them.
As we did for the start of last season we will also publish supporters’ Q and A sessions in due course.
Please continue to check the Shrewsbury Town website and social media platforms for ongoing updates as we approach August 7th.
