Shaun Whalley reflects on Town's pre-season trip to Edgar Street

21 July 2021

Shaun Whalley reflects on Town's 2-1 pre-season win over Hereford at Edgar Street.

Town's pre-season schedule saw Steve Cotterill's men make the trip to Edgar Street to take on National League North outfit Hereford.

Our pre-season campaign continued with Town finishing the fixture on top after a 2-1 comeback victory over the Bulls away from home.

With a goal and an assist, Town forward Shaun Whalley was pleased with his contribution but noted the importance of gaining fitness during pre-season.

On the fixture:

"Pre-season has been tough, but I always enjoy getting into shape and we are looking forward to the season. The game was very competitive, Hereford played really well but so did we at times; they took the lead but we managed to get back into it.

"It's always nice to score, I love scoring. It is mainly about gaining fitness at the minute but it's always nice to get on the scoresheet. Pre-season is hard work first and foremost, and that's what you expect. Everything is going well and we are working really hard. We are all looking forward to the season ahead.

"The second goal was a good finish from Dan Udoh. I played it through and I don't think he could miss. He tucked it away nice and he set me up for the first. Well done to Dan."
