David Longwell previews Town's fixture with Burton Albion

22 March 2021

David Longwell previews Town's Sky Bet League One away fixture with Burton Albion.

Shrewsbury Town are on the road tomorrow evening as Steve Cotterill's men take on Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium.

Town will be looking to extend an unbeaten run to four games with a result over Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's team but face a stern test from the home side who have won three of their last five fixtures.

First Team Coach David Longwell is anticipating a tough test against the Brewers but admits his team are full of confidence going into every fixture.

On the test of Burton:

"When you have Saturday to Tuesday games, you do a lighter training session. We did some intensive stuff and prepared for the game against Burton - it can be challenging. The Manager is so detailed and that's one of the biggest reasons why we have climbed the table.

"He doesn't miss anything and there are things we always go over. We don't take chances and hope it will be ok on the night. We do things properly and make sure the players are prepared as best as possible. We always have analysis meetings to look at the opposition.

"Burton have been on a good run. Since their new manager came in, they've been on a really good run. I think they've done something similar to us. It shows you how hard both teams have worked. They have improved and have done well to get themselves away from the bottom of the table.

"I remember Kane when he was at Rangers as a youngster. He's always had a good knack of scoring goals and he's had a good return this year. He is someone who has helped make a difference in getting results. He's a real threat."

Update on the Gaffer:

"He's doing well, you can hear the strength in his voice. As Aaron said, he's relentless with his work ethic. He's essential to why we have improved. He sounds good and he's gradually building himself back up again."
