On 13 November 2014, Hasselbaink was appointed manager at then League Two side Burton Albion. He signed a two-and-half-year contract, stating that he was attracted to Burton by the club's stability. On 4 December 2015, Hasselbaink was appointed as manager of Championship club Queens Park Rangers; he signed on a rolling contract, alongside his assistant David Oldfield
On New Year's Day 2021, he was appointed manager of Burton Albion for the second time in his career. He made seven permanent and five loan signings, mostly younger players in addition to 33-year old veteran defender Michael Mancienne.
Goalkeeper - Ben Garratt
Garret joined Burton Albion in October 2019 initially on a short-term deal to add some experience to the Brewers' goalkeeping ranks.
Garratt had spent his entire career with Crewe Alexandra, making 246 appearances in all competitions - including 223 games in League One and League Two - before opting to leave Gresty Road in the summer.
In January 2020, Garratt signed a new 18-month deal which will see him at the Pirelli Stadium until the summer of 2021. So far this season, the Brewers have kept seven clean sheets in league fixtures.
Defender - Michael Mancienne
Born in Feltham, London, Mancienne was spotted by Chelsea as a nine-year-old playing for Kingstonian. The defender impressed in the Chelsea youth system and made his debut for the reserve teams whilst still a schoolboy.
After gaining playing time with spells on loan at Championship sides Queens Park Rangers and Wolverhampton Wanderers, he finally made his Chelsea debut on 14 February 2009 against Watford.
However, in the search for a permanent home and first-team football, the defender made the move to the German Bundesliga to link up with Hamburger SV. Mancienne then moved back to England to join Nottingham Forrest where he made over 100 appearances. The defender has also represented MLS outfit New England Revolution. He has also represented England at various youth levels but has never represented the senior team. He joined Burton in 2021 as a free agent.
Midfielder - Sean Clare
Hackney-born Clare began his career in the Nike Academy before attracting interest from Sheffield Wednesday. However, the midfielder struggled to break into the Wednesday squad and went on to enjoy loan spells with Bury, Accrington Stanley and Gillingham.
Later, a permanent move north of the border came Clare's way when he joined Hearts of Midlothian. After two years in the SPL, the 24-year-old made the move back to the EFL to link up with Oxford United.
Albion's number 28 joined the Brewers on loan at the beginning of the January 2021 transfer window and has since enjoyed regular football. Clare is an enforcer in the middle of the park for Jimmy Floyd Hasslebaink having racked up 11 yellow cards.
Forward - Kane Hemmings
Burton-born Kane Hemmings signed for his hometown club in the summer of 2020 after leaving Scottish side Dundee.
Kane began his career with Tamworth before moving to Scottish giants Rangers in 2010. Two spells at Cowdenbeath produced a productive return of goals, leading to a move to Barnsley and then a first spell at Dundee, for whom Hemmings netted 28 goals in 2015/16.
Two seasons at Oxford United were followed by a season-long loan at Mansfield Town and then 14 goals for Notts County, before a return to Dundee which yielded 10 goals in 25 league games.
During this campaign, Hemmings has been a beacon of light for the Brewers as the striker has netted 13 goals for his team who continually look to fire themselves away from the bottom end of the Sky Bet League One table.
