Josh Daniels reflects on Town's Sky Bet League One away win over Rochdale AFC.
Shrewsbury Town's evening at Spotland Stadium ended in victory as Steve Cotterill's men left Rochdale with a 2-0 win.
Goals from Josh Daniels and Josh Vela were the difference as Town secured the win and a clean sheet as all three points headed back to Shropshire.
Town wing-back Josh Daniels was pleased to have notched a goal for Salop but was delighted the team secured three points.
On the goals:
"I am here to give 100%, defensively and when attacking. I am here to do a job and I was delighted to get on the score sheet. Aaron was telling me at half time that I need to get on the back post. Nathanael put a good ball into the box in the first half and I was a little bit too late.
"Shaun Whalley put in a great ball and it's another header for me, it's two this year. From a young age, I've always been decent in the air. Coming over here, I was probably an unknown and no one knows I'm good in the air because of my height.
"Nobody picked me up and I had a couple of yards to get a run on him. I worked on that a lot when I was at Derry City and it's nice to get another goal. A header or a tap-in, I don't mind either way.
"For the second, we hit them on the counter-attack and Josh deserved that goal - he's a tireless runner. His performances in the last few months have been consistent. I am delighted for him and he put it away well."
On his performance defensively:
"I do have to work on my game defensively and positionally. I am always thinking like a winger and getting beat too easily on the inside. As I said, it's a foreign position for me but I am learning. I feel like I did a fair bit of defending tonight. Doing the defensive side and then going on to score is a great feeling.
"Everyone stepped up and did unbelievably well. Brad Walker came back in after a number of months out injured and slotted in well. Harry Burgoyne in nets did a great job. Confidence is there and we want to go on and do this every week."
