Matthew Pennington reflects on Town's Sky Bet League One 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic.

Shrewsbury Town's trip to London ended with Salop taking a point back to Shropshire after a 1-1 draw witrh Charlton Athletic.

Despite taking the lead through Sean Goss, Conor Washington stepped up for the home side to secure a point in the final minutes of the fixture.

Matthew Pennington was pleased Town were able to secure a point at the Valley but feels Town had enough chances to earn three points against Lee Bowyer's team.

On the result:

"The lads are a little bit disappointed that we didn't get the three points. It shows what we're about because we want to win these games. When we look back on it, it's a decent point.

"For the goal, I had a bit of space and I whipped the ball in. Gossy made a god run and got on the end of it nicely. It was a good goal so it was a shame we couldn't hold on to win the game. There was space to step in and Gossy's run made the decision for me. I put it in there and he got on the end of it which is great.

"For their goal, there were a lot of bodies around and I thought we could have got the block in. He bobbled through and we are disappointed with that. We should have kept a clean sheet. It wasn't to be today and a point is something we can build on.

"The free mid-week allows us to strengthen the squad and get a few people back from injury. A few of us like myself and Brad Walker will benefit from the rest having just come back from injury.

"We will have to be ready for a hectic schedule. I don't think there are any free weeks now until the end of the season. There are all sorts going on. I am really excited because I want to play as many games as I can."
