Nathanael Ogbeta voted the Salop Young Player of the Year.
Nathanael Ogbeta's performances over the course of the second half of the season has seen the 20-year-old voted the Salopian Young Player of the Season for the 2020/21 campaign.
Making the move to Montgomery Waters Meadow from Manchester City's under-23's in January, few would have predicted the consistency and high-performance level produced by Town's wing-back during a difficult season.
Starting a total of 25 games in six months, Nathanael contributed to seven clean sheets - as well as notching two goals for Town in Sky Bet League One competition.
"I am so happy. It has been a really good season for me coming into men's football. It was a shock to the system but the way the fans have received me has been amazing. I feel so comfortable here and I am so grateful to God, the Manager and the lads for accepting me. I have loved the opportunity to play as many games as I have. It has got tougher as it's gone on but that's men's football. I am happy to have started here and I am really enjoying it.
"I believe my faith is key to why I've done well. I have such a strong faith in God and that has given me strength every time I have stepped onto the pitch. The lockdown period was tough but that gave me time to work on areas of my game that I don't usually get the chance to work on. I still feel so far away from where I can be but here I have the freedom to express myself more.
"The hard work for next season starts now. I have been very fortunate to play this many games but nothing is guaranteed in football, I have to keep working hard and keep focused. This season is in the past. What lies ahead is most important."
Congratulations, Nat!
