Dan Udoh reflects on Town's loss in Cheltenham

20 November 2021

Dan Udoh reflects on Town's Sky Bet League One away defeat against Cheltenham Town.

Shrewsbury Town's venture to the Jonny-Rocks Stadium for Sky Bet League One competition ultimately ended in disappointment with the home side securing a 2-1 win.

Despite Town taking the lead early on, the home side were able to bounce back with two goals to secure all three points.

Town forward Dan Udoh was frustrated with the result and felt Salop deserved to travel home with points gained.

On the result:

"I thought we were unlucky," said Dan. "We played really, really well and got our goal. We were on top but we went down to 10 men and it's always hard when you go down to 10 men. We dug in but one sloppy moment from us, to be fair from me in defence allowed them the chance to score - I hold my hands up for that. That moment opened us up and they got the goal.

"We were very unlikely and I thought we played really well even with 10 men. Hopefully we can take the positives into Tuesday. It's obviously good when you score goals but I want to be scoring to help the team win games. It's always a tough game when you come to Cheltenham but we showed how good we can be as a team in the early stages. They usually score their goals within the first 15 minutes but we got ourselves one up.

"With the red card happening so early, it made the rest of the game a grind. We were up for the fight, we stuck to the plan well but we were just unlucky to concede the goals we conceded. On another day, their goal hits the post and gets cleared.

"Our fans are so important, especially at home. On Tuesday, we want to do well for them and make the Meadow a fortress. We want it to be tough for teams to come here. Hopefully we can get a positive result."
