Steve Cotterill previews Town's Emirates FA Cup away fixture with Stratford Town.
Shrewsbury Town's Emirates FA Cup journey begins with a trip to Knights Lane as Salop take on Stratford Town in the first round of the competition.
Recent history has seen Town enjoy memorable occasions in the Emirates FA Cup and Town's 2021/22 cup campaign starts with an away fixture against the Southern League Premier Division Central club.
Steve Cotterill is looking forward to the tie and notes Town will have to respect their opposition.
On the fixture:
"We have seen enough of Stratford," said Town's Gaffer. "We started a lot of our work today and we'll finish that off tomorrow - we will be well prepared for the game. I've come up against lower league teams in the past. I remember at Bournemouth we played against Nuneaton Borough. I came back from an ankle in that game and it ended up being a draw. We went to their place and beat them up there live on Sky.
"There was another with Wimbledon against Tottenham. There were a few games over the years with Cheltenham where we've ended up beating bigger opposition. We also had the game against Oxford City when I first came in - I have a fair bit of experience of being the bigger team against a smaller team.
"Stratford Town have done incredibly well to get to this round. I think they've done very well to get this far and they'll want to go one step further. The TV cameras are there because they've picked out a game where they think it could be an upset.
"Concentration is very important in these games and respect is very important as well. Certainly in our preparation, we've given great respect to Stratford. We know they've contacted a league team for footage of us but we are as prepared as we can be."
