Steve Cotterill previews Town's clash with Cheltenham Town

18 November 2021

Steve Cotterill previews Town's Sky Bet League One away clash with Cheltenham Town.

Shrewsbury Town are back on the road this weekend as Steve Cotterill's men take on newly promoted Cheltenham Town at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

Salop will be looking to earn all three points with the visit to Gloucestershire having secured a point away from home against Lincoln City last time out in Sky Bet League One action.

Town's manager is expecting a stern test from his former club but hopes to see Town build on recent positive league form.

On the fixture:

"They have a mixed style and can do a bit of both, that's the awkward thing about it really. You don't want to have just one style of play because you're easy to work out. I think Cheltenham have done great this year and hopefully they can have a good season - but I don't wish them all the best for the weekend. I know most of the backroom team and I'm looking forward to seeing them all again on Saturday.

"I wouldn't know how not to be in competition mode on Saturday. They will know that and the people of Cheltenham will know that. But it doesn't mean I can't love them and have fond memories and all of that. We want to get three points on the board every week but it will be a difficult game. They were good the other night against Gillingham and started very well. They will be dangerous, they have a good spirit and are well organised.

"They look like they are enjoying themselves in this league and they've had some good results against some big teams."

Squad news:

"We have one issue but you won't get that out of me, so don't ask. That will be left until later in the week."
