Match preview: MK Dons (H)

15 October 2021

Take a look at the latest stats and facts ahead of Town's Sky Bet League One home fixture with MK Dons.

Shrewsbury Town are back in Sky Bet League One action this weekend as they welcome play-off-chasing Milton Keynes Dons to Montgomery Waters Meadow.

This week’s visitors are so far having a good start to their season and are currently sat sixth in the league table and are only four points off the automatic promotion places. Having lost only twice so far this season, they are on course to improve on their two previous disappointing bottom half of the table finishes since their promotion from Sky Bet League Two back in the 2018/19 season.

The Dons come into this one having not played a game in over a week since their 2-1 win against Wycombe Wanderers in the EFL Trophy last Tuesday. They will be looking to recreate performances like the ones they had against Gillingham (4-1) and Accrington Stanley (2-0) against Salop this weekend.

Name: Milton Keynes Dons

Founded: 2004 (17 years ago)

Chairman: Pete Winkleman

Biggest Win: 7-0 vs Oldham Athletic, Sky Bet League One, 2014

Biggest Defeat: 6-0 vs Southampton, League Cup, 2015

Highest League Finish: 23rd, Sky Bet Championship, 2015/16

One to Watch: Scott Twine

Having joined in the summer from Swindon Town in the summer, Scott Twine has started life in League One brilliantly. Playing in the number 10 role behind Mo Eisa and Troy Parrott has allowed Twine to flourish in that position.

He’s Don’s top goal-scorer in the league this season with six goals in 11 appearances. He’s also registered two assist as well. He also got himself his first senior career hat-trick in the 3-3 at home to Fleetwood Town at the end of September.

At the age of 22, twine still has his whole career in front of him and if he carries on playing the way he has done so far, he will have a very long and successful career which could take him right to the very top.
