Ryan Bowman reflects on Town's Sky Bet League One home win over Cambridge United.
Shrewsbury Town's Sky Bet League One fixture with Cambridge United ended with Steve Cotterill's men securing an emphatic 4-1 win.
Ryan Bowman's hat-trick and Luke Leahy's late winner was the clear difference between the two sides as all three points remained at Montgomery Waters Meadow.
Town's forward was delighted with the win and was thrilled to have notched his third career hat-trick to help Salop secure the win.
On the result:
"I am absolutely delighted," said Ryan. "It's always nice to score a goal when you're a striker but it's even better when you score three. I am delighted for the team. I don't like signing people out but Dan Udoh ran his socks off all game and was unlucky not to have scored himself. The midfield three and the back line were all fantastic.
"We knew that they've conceded most of their goals in the first thirty minutes of the game and we wanted to start well. We got the early goal and could have got another one. I've never scored a 'perfect' hat-trick before so I'm over the moon.
"With the players we've got, we shouldn't be where we are. We need to push up as much as we can and we know we can do that. We need to start a run going because we haven't done that yet."
On the health scare:
"I am ok. The doctors down at Ipswich and in Shrewsbury were brilliant with me and looked after me all night long. They did all the tests and made sure I was ok - I am very thankful for that. The nurse and cardiologists were happy to send me away once I'd had the shock. I have a device on me now to monitor how I go.
"I've had a lot of messages from friends, family, ex team-mates and players that I haven't even played with. The fans sent me a lot of messages and I appreciate them all."
