Shaun Whalley previews Town's fixture with MK Dons

Shaun Whalley previews Town's Sky Bet League One home fixture with MK Dons.

Shrewsbury Town return to Montgomery Waters Meadow this weekend for the latest Sky Bet League One encounter with MK Dons.

Following a narrow defeat away from home against Ipswich Town last time out, Steve Cotterill's men will be hoping to earn all three points over the Dons.

Town winger Shaun Whalley is looking forward to the fixture and hopes his team can secure all three points in front of the Salopian family.

On the fixture:

"We are expecting a really tough gane. MK Dons are always a good passing team and they're are a possession-based team. It will be a hard game for us, we know that but there is nothing to fear. If we can get the ball away from them, we can attack them to score goals and win the game.

"They are really good at keeping the ball and they have high possession stats in games. Our first task is getting the ball from them. When we do get the ball, we have to break quickly and get the goals. Personally, I take each game as it comes and I'm sure everyone else does. Every team in League One is a good side and we have to be ready for anything."

On scoring in seven consecutive seasons:

"Nathanael Ogbeta told me about that this morning because I'm not on social media. Nat told me this morning and I want to score in nine if that's the top one - hopefully I can do that. I feel like I've had a few chances this season where I should have scored. I've had at least one chance in most games where I thought I could have scored.

"With the goal against Ipswich, I knew it was curling in and it was good to get us back into the game. My left is definitely my weak foot but I can swing it. I have scored a few goals with my left and I can cross and shoot with it but that's about it."
