David Davis previews Town's fixture with Crewe Alexandra

David Davis previews Town's Sky Bet League One home fixture with Crewe Alexandra.

Shrewsbury Town return to Montgomery Waters Meadow this weekend as Steve Cotterill's men welcome Crewe Alexandra to Shropshire.

Salop will be looking for a return to winning ways with the visit of the Railway Men following last weekend's disappointment away from home against Accrington Stanley.

Town midfielder David Davis is looking forward to the fixture and hopes his return from suspension coincides with a win in Shropshire.

On the fixture:

"No player wants to miss games because it can interrupt your rhythm. I am feeling a little bit fresher, but ideally, I would have prefered to be out there helping the team trying to get three points. Going into the game on Saturday, I feel fresh and ready to go. Training, when you know you can't play, is strange. You have to help the boys as much as possible, especially leading into the game. It was frustrating for me knowing I wasn't going to play but you have to give 100% in training.

"Crewe are a good side but I feel like we can really get into them and there are things that we can expose. They haven't started the season the greatest either but it's a chance for us to get a win under our belt. We want to secure the points and push on from there.

"Training has been hard but very good this week. We have worked on a few things that we needed to brush upon. There is real clarity on the work we've done this week and hopefully, we can showcase that on the weekend. I feel good going into the game and ready to go."
