Steve Cotterill reflects on Town's loss against Wycombe Wanderers

Steve Cotterill reflects on Town's Sky Bet League One home loss against Wycombe Wanderers.

Shrewsbury Town's second consecutive home game came to a conclusion with visitors Wycombe Wanderers taking home all three points.

Despite Matthew Pennington pulling a goal back for Salop, Steve Cotterill's men were unable to go one better to find the equaliser as Gareth Ainsworth's men left Shropshire with the win.

Town's Manager was left frustrated with the result and felt his team created enough chances to have earned something from the game.

On the result:

"It's a frustrating night. We created enough chances and I've got no issues with the boys tonight. If anything, we've got to defend their second goal better. Other than that, I have no issues and I thought they were excellent. We certainly created enough chances to get something from the game.

"Their first goal came from a handball. It was blatant and I've just looked back at it and you can clearly see it doesn't hit his knee. The referee is stood there looking at him and it's a blatant handball. There's nothing we can do about that and we can only control our own performance. I thought we were good value tonight, and certainly good value for a point.

"I'm disappointed as are the lads, we can't hide that. I don't have any problems with their performance tonight. With the delivery for their second goal, we have to make sure that we end up defending that better than we have. It's a soft free-kick and there were things like that happening out there all night.

"We have to keep encouraging the lads and keep encouraging them to get their head on the ball. We have to keep their confidence up but they don't need to have any lapses of confidence after that performance tonight. We were on the end of a result we didn't deserve. Nobody let the team down tonight."

Josh Vela news:

"He's ok but he wasn't ok enough to be involved. We will have to monitor him over the next few days and see how he is."
